Ferme Blanche is a cosy ski retreat for up to 12 people (sole occupancy possible for 6 or more) in a mountain hamlet just below Montalbert, La Plagne. Stylishly renovated, it has lots of rustic alpine charm, including stone floors, original timbers, and stone walls nearly a metre thick in places. The chalet is ski-in (off-piste track), and surrounded by meadows and forest, with breathtaking views across the mountain tops. It is also directly opposite Petite Blanchette, a delightful newly renovated duplex chalet apartment.

Despite being so close to the slopes, the hamlet has managed to stay hidden and undeveloped. Children make snowmen and sledge in the village fields, deer and wild boar visit the gardens at night, and the sky is lit by stars and a few old fashioned street lamps.

The chalet has 3 ensuite bedrooms sleeping up to 8, and two optional additional bedrooms (supplement possible). There’s also an outdoor sauna, fire pit, sun terraces and enclosed garden. It’s the ideal spot for a mountain escape. You feel a million miles away from the outside world – no traffic, no bars, and no shops. The nearest are 2 kilometres away in Longefoy – a 20 minute “flattish” walk along a country lane. You can also hike up to the village resort of Plagne Montalbert, depending on the conditions, it’s about 25 minutes up from the house along forest trails. Alternatively, take the easy option and catch our shuttle bus!

    • Large sitting room with comfy chairs, a log stove and garden views
    • Dining room with wood burner style gas fire, mountain views and doors to terrace
    • Library area with flat screen TV (for DVDs/laptop, no TV ariel), DVDs and books
    • Large enclosed garden with sun terraces, fire pit, outdoor wood-fired sauna (extra charge) and panoramic mountain views
    • Ski store in the cellar

The 3 ensuite bedrooms are arranged as follows:

    • Montagnette: spacious double room (queen size bed 160x200cm or x2 80x200cm) with mountain views, sitting area and juliette balcony, free standing bath and ensuite shower room.
    • Pantoufle: twin / double room (king size bed 180x200cm or 2x 90x200cm), tongue-and-groove panelling, window seat with mountain views, wood floors and ensuite shower room
    • Grange: family room (queen size bed 160x200cm or 2x 80x200cm, + bunks) with ensuite shower room, wood floors and balcony

    Optional additional bedrooms (supplement possible):

    • Griffiths: twin / double room (king size bed 180x200cm or x2 singles 90x200cm), private shower room across the hall
    • Cabin: a small room between Pantoufle and Montagnette, with a double wall bed (140x200cm) and window seat with mountain views. The bed occupies most of the floor space when it’s down. There’s also a WC and sink across the hall. You can only book this room if you have friends or family staying in one of the adjacent rooms (you need to share their shower).

Ferme Blanche’s rural setting is fantastic for dogs. You can go for long walks in the snow along forest tracks, play together in the surrounding fields, or just relax in front of the fire. We can also provide dog sitting and dog walking services for an extra charge.

Please note: the staff live-in (self-contained studio on ground floor).

Ferme Blanche is accessed either via a set of concrete steps or up a slope. There are steps and staircases inside too. Sadly as a result it is not very suitable for people with mobility difficulties. We only accept children in sole occupancy groups. The minimum age is 5 years old.

The farmhouse sits on the top edge of Montvilliers (1100m), a tiny unspoilt hamlet tucked away on the mountainside under the ski resort of Plagne Montalbert (one of the La Plagne ski villages and part of Paradiski). Montalbert’s gondola is a quick 5 minute drive in our private chalet shuttle (for catered guests only). You can also ski back along off-piste forest tracks.

Plagne Montalbert has picturesque tree-lined slopes, challenging blacks and reds, wide blue runs and some good off-piste. It’s an ideal location for mixed ability and family groups. You can also ski across to the centre of La Plagne where you’ll be spoilt for choice in terms of slopes and restaurants. There’s also a board park, x2 sledge parks and a glacier. If that’s not enough, you can take the Vanoise Express and ski all the way over to Les Arcs too on the other side of Paradiski.
