La Plagne’s range of slopes (around 220km of pistes) and extensive lift system are among the best in the Alps, however it has never really achieved the cult status of some resorts. As a result, it is quite reasonably priced and attracts those who are more independently-minded.
On the Montchavin Les Coches side there are tree-lined red and blue runs, a good nursery area and some excellent mountain restaurants. The Plagne Montalbert side is very similar, but quieter and a bit smaller – although you can get across on the lifts into the main La Plagne ski area faster than from Montchavin. Expert skiers and boarders will enjoy the vast off-piste snow fields and steep gullies, as well as the challenges offered by the Bellecote glacier.
