We’re Sam and Alvaro, an English and Spanish couple who first came out to Paradiski in 2002 to run a ski chalet for a season. We loved the mountains so much that we never went back. We sold up and moved over, and we’ve been renovating and running ski chalets ever since.

We’re now open all year round as an alpine B&B (under the Maison Caramel brand), ski chalet and self-catering gite business (under the “Hidden Alps” brand), and offer not just skiing holidays, but also walking, cycling and mountain biking adventures too.

We want you to feel relaxed and well looked after during your stay with us – and to have fun too – whether it’s on the slopes, out exploring or back at the chalets. If you leave feeling recharged and happy, we’ll have achieved our goal!

We take a personal, bespoke approach

We take a personal, bespoke approach

Our company is small, run by us and based here in Paradiski. That means:

  • We’re flexible. We can create bespoke catered chalet holidays designed around your needs – just tell us if there’s something you want that we’ve not thought of
  • We’re on hand to make sure you have a wonderful winter holiday, and are very happy to answer your questions or assist you in any way we can before or during your stay
  • You get excellent value for money, friendly, attentive personal service, lovely boutique-style accommodation and great food at an affordable price
  • We’re on hand in the chalets and on the slopes – we share our local knowledge and are there to help when you need it
  • We care about our impact on the local environment and are working hard to create a year-round business based on sustainable tourism principles

We own and love our chalets

We own and love our chalets

Fed up with the often dated (carpet on bathroom walls??), identikit wooden chalets that are all most ski resorts seem to offer, we decided we wanted to buy and renovate proper mountain houses in real alpine villages that don’t shut down out of season.

We searched the Tarentaise for an old house with bags of character, close to the ski lifts and in a rural village good for summer and winter holidays. We found our first chalet in 2006 – a tumbled down farmhouse in Landry, in the heart of Paradiski and part of the Peisey Vallandry ski resort, yet just 7km from Bourg Saint Maurice. Then in 2007 we came across and fell in love with Ferme Blanche, a slightly less tumbled down farmhouse in an unspoilt hamlet below Plagne Montalbert on the La Plagne side of Paradiski .

We’ve renovated both buildings with the aim of creating stylish, relaxed and comfortable mountain retreats for our guests. We’ve done our best to preserve their character and re-used the original materials where possible. At the same time we’ve insulated, double-glazed and installed heating and hot water. The result is warm and cosy farmhouses with a simple, rustic feel and lots of designer touches.
